Most folks would say that they *know* about the K K K, and whether from the North or the South, it is nearly universal in concept that it is a naughty–or even evil–organization. Moreover, it is an organization which, we are told, exists even to this present day. But do we realize that the organization hailing as the Ku Klux Klan today is a distinct organization with different goals from the organization from the post-bellum period? Or that the original Ku Klux Klan ended its existence before the death of its first Grand Wizard: Nathan Bedford Forest? On the whole, the views of the original author are not necessarily my own. This book is being republished because it provides important historical information. It’s perspective on ethnicity may be difficult for some readers to see beyond their own views, but there is far too much information that is not concerned with ethnicity to ignore the great wealth of information that is documented in this volume.
